Google Buzz! Will it really Buzz?

February 10, 2010 by Rohit Prabhakar 2 Comments

Google has launched its latest in social networking Google Buzz. This puts Google in direct competition with the top shots like Twitter.

Our belief is that organizing the social information on the web — finding relevance in the noise — has become a large-scale challenge, one that Google’s experience in organizing information can help solve. We’ve recently launched innovations like real-time search and Social Search, and today we’re taking another big step with the introduction of a new product, Google Buzz.

From Google Blog

Now the million dollar question that arises is, will it really buzz? I don’t have the answer as I am still waiting for my account to be activated with buzz. But I tried it on my iphone and was not too impressive. Will use it more and comment again here! Will appreciate your comments.

Valentine’s day 2010, my idea of a gift

February 9, 2010 by Rohit Prabhakar Leave a Comment

This Valentine as per me the best gift for my girl is my all time favorites chocolate, teddy bear and some nice decent precious gift. I spent a lot of time finding out what is the best that I will like to go for.  So here is what I finally settled with:

  • Chocolates (of-course Godiva is my all time favorite). It is a Sweet Heart Gift Set, featuring a plush Valentino the Bear and a 19 pc. Valentine’s Day Ballotin. Valentino the Bear is a snow-white, silky-soft cuddler with “Godiva 2010” embroidered on his paw, a red bow at his neck, and an organza bag filled with 8 foil-wrapped milk chocolate hearts.  I know my wife will surely like this as she has always loved eating chocolates from Godiva.
  • A very decent gift (let her decide what she will choose). She can choose from array of especially indulgent gifts and brands that pamper, like Nick & Nora®, Woodstock Chimes®, Yankee Candle®, Upper Canada®, and Homedics®.

If you have some version of MyEclipse (Enterprise Workbench 6.6.0) which has no option to run a build file with ANT and you are confused on how to run the build in the eclipse, please follow the following steps:

  1. Go to the project
  2. Select build_XXX.xml
  3. Go to “Run As” icon and click “Open External Tools Dialog…”
  4. A new pop-up window for External Tools will appear with an option “Ant Build”
  5. Right click on “Ant Build” and click on option “New”
  6. A new ANT build task will be created and will look like the following
  7. Go to “Properties” tab and deselect option “Use global properties as specified in the Ant runtime preferences”
  8. Create a new file “[SomeName].properties” and write the required build properties into it.
  9. Click on “Add External…” and select the file created in step 8.
  10. The pop-up window will look like the following.
  11. Click on APPLY
  12. Click on RUN
